Welcome to the Muskegon Heights Public Schools!

Thank you for your interest in the Muskegon Heights Public Schools. We are very proud of our students, our staff, our families, and our schools. When people ask me why I think they should choose the Muskegon Heights Public Schools for their child, I make sure to tell them that the size of our district, the quality of our staff and the commitment to children that exists in this community makes Muskegon Heights a great place for children to learn and to grow. Click here for more reasons to choose Muskegon Heights Public Schools.

In Muskegon Heights, our public schools are considered the “heart” of our community. We truly do “place students first” in the Muskegon Heights Public Schools. Our goal is to ensure that every student learns, graduates and goes on to higher education and/or a successful career. MHPS graduates are able to compete with the best, not only on the basketball courts, but also in college classrooms and in corporate America.

This year, we continue our focus on improving academic achievement and building community partnerships. Our new Math & Science Academy, located in the Martin Luther King, Jr. Elementary School building, is opened and has already attracted students from throughout the county. This exciting program is designed for students who want to explore more math and science in addition to our regular curriculum. Students in this program get the chance to work with specialists and mentors from both the business world and academia. Click here to find out more.
