About Our Store:
"It is a mini-economy for my class room. All the students in my class have a job. They earn $5.00 a day. At the end of two weeks they get a pay check. Students run a bank, bill collection, and store. The students have to endorse their check and cash it at the bank. After cashing their check they pay bills, fines, rent, taxes and utilities.
-
Fines - are behavior infractions
-
Rent - is for the desk and chair
-
Taxes - are to pay for the teachers
-
Utilities - is for lights, water, and heat they use
With the money they have left they can start a savings account at the bank or go to the store. The store has all kinds of things that have been donated to me; toys, games, candles, school supplies, decorations, etc. The students have to do the math for the store, bank and bills. They have to learn about economics like supply and demand, goods and services. Currently, it is a classroom thing. Only the 5th graders do the store. The students love it and do a great job with it. Most students in the building know about it and look forward to participating."
