Parents, families and friends:

We have just completed the unit on Human Body Systems (Cardiovascular, Respiratory, and Nervous Systems).

Last week, the class dissected a sheep’s eye.  The students did a great job during this lab.  They were able to identify many parts of the eye (cornea, iris, lens, and retina, to name a few), and compare how an animal’s eye is similar to a human’s.

The next unit that we will be exploring is Sound and Light.  The students will have their own book to take home again.  Please help them to keep them in the condition in which they received them.

Science Writing Prompt

The end of February saw the completion of the science writing prompt on diseases and how they affect us.  Many of these were well written and will be displayed in the hallways.  Select students will also have an opportunity to be interviewed about their papers, and that interview will appear on the school television.

Tissue Donation

We would like to thank those of you who donated tissues for our students.  Thank you to the parents of Alexus Sanders, Carl Chapman, Toryent Jackson, Darrion Green, and Trent Jackson.  Your donations are appreciated.

Student Teacher

I have been teaching all of the seventh grade science classes for a few weeks now.  There are many things that I am learning daily.  I appreciate your cooperation and patience while I complete the rest of my intern experience.  If you ever have any questions or concerns, please call me at school (830-3623) or stop by.

Baby’s Arrival

My wife, Kimberly, gave birth to our first girl on February 29th  (Yes, it’s a leap year baby.)  She was 6 pounds 12 ounces.  Her name is Emma Elizabeth.  We took her home a few days later to meet her 3 older brothers.  She is doing great, and her brothers are adjusting well to her being around.

Conferences

We are having conferences on March 26 and 27.  The students have a half day of school on these days.  I look forward to meeting you on one of these days.
