February 1, 2008
Parents, families and friends:
We are currently studying Human Body Systems (Skeletal and Muscular).
We have had our chicken wing dissection. The students really seemed to enjoy this lab. The purpose of this dissection was to identify how muscles work in pairs and how the muscular systems are interdependent.
***The test over the skeletal and muscular systems is next week.***
Science Writing Prompt
During the month of February, the 7th and 8th graders will be working on a science writing prompt. The writing prompt is aimed at improving out student's writing abilities. The science writing prompt is as follows:
Americans are affected by serious illnesses every day. These diseases can affect family members, friends, or others in our community. The assignment is to write about an illness that can affect the human body.
**Parents, it may be helpful to discuss this topic with your child to generate some ideas and draw upon your own family experiences to produce the best possible writing piece.
Textbooks
We still have a few students who have not returned their Science Book C. If the book is not found after locker clean-out, I will be in touch with you about the cost to replace the book or about any book damages.

Student Teacher
Mr. Morden, our student teacher intern from Western Michigan University, is off to a great start. Soon, Mr. Morden will be taking over more of the teaching and classroom management responsibilities. I will be supervising, monitoring, and collaborating with Mr. Morden to provide the best classroom experience for your student. Remember, Mr. Morden will be with us until late April.
Classroom Makeover
Our science classroom has undergone some big changes. We have receive brand new microscopes, chairs, lab stools, and tables. We are waiting patiently for the new teacher workstation to complete our classroom transfiguration. Our classroom is truly beautiful and a sight to see. Please stop by to see for yourself.
Reducing Germs
We are in the midst of cold and flu season. Please consider making a classroom donation of a box of Kleenex. We would like to keep our room healthy and germs at a minimum. Thanks for your support.
On the Web
We are now on the web as you can see! So please, feel free to look at the various projects we have completed thus far.
