April 24, 2008
Parents, families and friends:
The seventh graders have been making musical instruments for our unit on sound since spring break. They are applying the principals of sound that we have read about in this chapter to create, test, and modify the instruments. They will be presenting them today. I’m sure we will be a seeing (and hearing) a variety of unique creations and sounds.
As some of you are aware, we have had a problem recently with students that are not turning in all their homework. Many of you have already received a phone call from your children to inform you of the assignments that they are missing. Please check with your children daily to see what assignments they have due. If your child is absent, it is their responsibility to get the work that they missed.
Physics in the Park
A select few science and math students were chosen to participate in the Physics in the Park contest at Michigan’s Adventure on May 14th. These students were chosen based on their grades and classroom behavior. This contest, involving several area schools, focuses on using trigonometry and physics to solve problems related to the rides in the park. The students will be building measuring tools (an accelerometer and altimeter) for this. These students are spending time after school in preparation for this event.

Student Teacher
My stint as an intern teacher will come to an end tomorrow April 25th (dependent upon approval from Mrs. Pierce.) I enjoyed my time here tremendously and learned quite a lot from both Mrs. Pierce and the students. I survived several things that seemed challenging at the onset of my internship (like getting through both dissections.) Thank you for allowing me to spend this semester with your children.
Family Science Night
|
Both seventh and eighth grade science classes are planning a family science night for the near future. This evening will give you the opportunity to come into the classroom and experience some of the labs that your children have performed in class. We will let you know what date is chosen for the event.
