Welcome to the Math & Science Academy in your Muskegon Heights! 

It is my honor to introduce you to the Math & Science Academy! Now in our second year, the students attending the Math & Science Academy are expected to leave no stone unturned in their pursuit of academic excellence.  Our talented and dedicated staff members challenge students to think outside the box and believe that their dreams are within reach if they put in the work necessary to climb to those “heights!”

Immersing students in hands-on activities is priority #1 at the Math & Science Academy, as students have the chance to pursue every talent they might possess.  Students compete against each other as well as students around the State and the rest of our nation in educational computer games like First in Math.  They also have the chance to participate in a host of extracurricular competitions like Math Counts, Physics in the Park, Destination Imagination and West Michigan Science Challenge.  

The students learn real-world skills when they work on our school newspaper, called “The Academy Spotlight.”  This year, the 6th grade students are responsible for raising 200 salmon eggs, while the newly added 7th grade students are acting as reading mentors for some of our students in the lower grades.  Students will also have an up close view of the night sky when a marvelous inflatable known as “Star Lab” visits the Academy for one full week this spring.
 
We’re proud of our early accomplishments but look for every new opportunity to push our students and take their learning experience to the next level.  The Math & Science Academy Staff want to thank our parents for their support, praise our students for their hard work, and encourage all who are interested to contact us if you’d like to find out more about enrolling your child at the Academy.
