Position:                    Middle School Principal
                                   
Time:                          Academic School Year

Report To:                 Superintendent of Schools

Salary:                        According to Negotiated Contract

Work Year:                48 weeks

 

Qualifications:

  1. Meet teacher qualifications of the State of Michigan.
  2. Five years of teaching experience.
  3. Masters Degree or higher in administration and supervision, or equivalent from an accredited institution.
  4. Ability and desire to work with minority students and a diverse staff.
  5. Experienced in curriculum development and implementation.
  6. Evidence of good working relationship with students, parents and community stakeholders.

Performance Responsibilities:

  1. Administers, manages, and supervises the operation of the school in compliance with the Board of Education’s policies and the directions of the Superintendent or designee.
  2. Maintains student conduct and enforces discipline in compliance with district procedures and accords due process to the rights of students.
  3. Provides leadership in the assessment of needs of students, staff, and parents and in the development of appropriate education programs and student activities.
  4. Demonstrates success in leadership capacity.
  5. Ability to develop a vision and strategies to achieve that vision.
  6. Observes and evaluates the performance of the staff members.
  7. Plans and administers staff development activities.
  8. Supervises the maintenance of accurate records on the progress and attendance of students through report cards and conferences.
  9. Selects and administers a plan for utilization of volunteers.
  10. Performs other tasks as assigned by the central office.
