Department of Curriculum and Instruction

Welcome to the Department of Curriculum and Instruction where our mission is to ensure that effective learning occurs for each student. We offer diversified and vigorous instructional programs that are designed to create a vibrant learning atmosphere for Muskegon Heights Public School students which translates into improved student academic achievement. Mrs. Ann Lars serves as the Executive Director of Curriculum and Instruction.

Curriculum is the what, the why, and the how of classroom instruction. What do we want children to know, understand, and be able to do? Why do we choose one set of learning expectations as opposed to another? What is the best way for children to learn? How will we know if the children have reached the performance standard set for them?

The Department of Curriculum and Instruction provides a myriad of services to employees, parents and students. These services are available to teachers, support personnel, and students; including post secondary options for students while still enrolled in high school.
